Abrasion Resistance

Stop Abrasion from Destroying Your Critical Equipment

Rilsan ®, Teflon ®, Metco ® and Stellite ® are just some of the abrasion resistant coatings that we apply to keep abrasion from destroying your critical and expensive equipment.

Rilsan and Teflon are examples of abrasion resistant coatings while Metco and Stellite are examples of abrasion resistant hard face coatings.

How Abrasion Occurs

Abrasion occurs when an abrasive product comes into contact with the environment around it, causing the wear and failure of the equipment. Abrasion takes its' toll on a lot of different equipment from air ducts carrying coal dust (dry abrasion) to liquid slurry pumps used to pump raw water (wet slurry abrasion). It could take years to occur or just minutes.

We Can Help Your Reduce or Eliminate Abrasion

ICS TECHNOLOGIES understands all the factors that induce and increase abrasive wear, including face velocities and particle impingement among others. This understanding provides us with the key to steps that must be taken to prevent abrasion from occurring and identify the abrasion resistant coating or abrasion resistant hard face coating that best meets your needs.

If your equipment cannot be isolated from the abrasive environment, the only solution to an abrasion problem is to reduce or eliminate the contact of the abrasive product on the equipment through the use of an abrasion resistant coating or abrasion resistant hard face coating. One of the most important roles of a coating is the isolation of the equipment from the abrasive environment, but if complete isolation cannot be achieved some coatings can still suppress the rate of abrasion.
