Ceramic Coatings
Thermal spray ceramic coatings and
trowelable, brushable ceramic coatings both serve extremely useful but very
different purposes.
Thermal spray ceramic coatings produce surfaces in a wide range of textures
that resist oxidation, abrasion, sliding wear and high temperature corrosion
or they can provide thermal or electrical insulation.
Applications range from protecting wear areas on shafts (i.e. bushing and
packing areas) to providing thermal barriers on hot sides of combustion equipment.
They are available in aluminum oxide, chromium oxide, titanium oxide and zirconium
oxide bases. Maximum operating temperatures vary up to 1650° F/900° C.
Trowelable, Brushable ceramic coatings produce very smooth surfaces due to
the fact that they are ceramic filled resin coatings. The resins and binders
hold the ceramic particles in place throughout the coating.
Applications range from pump linings in abrasive wear applications to abrasive
air handling equipment wear areas such as fans and elbows in air ducts carrying
coal dust. These coatings can also be used to repair eroded areas of metal
such as holes in the vanes of a pump impeller.
Maximum operating temperatures range up to 450° F/232° C.

or other problems, please contact ICS
